The subscription started in January 2020 as a way to smooth out the unpredictability of single orders. We had noticed that a core group of customers was ordering every three to four weeks anyway, and a subscription made the logistics simpler for both sides. Two and a half years later, about 40% of our orders come through the subscription. Here is an honest account of how it works and who it suits.
How the subscription is structured ¶
You choose two or four bags per month and select your preferred blends. We charge on the 1st of each month and ship within two business days. The minimum commitment is one month; there is no lock-in period. You can pause, change blends, or cancel any time from your account page, as long as you do it before the 28th of the preceding month. We send a reminder email on the 25th of each month so you have time to make changes before the charge.
How blends rotate by season ¶
The core seven blends are available year-round. Seasonal blends. Currently the Summer Shiso and Lemon, available July through September. Are added to the subscription options when they are in production and removed when they sell out. Subscribers get first access to seasonal blends, usually two days before they go on general sale. If you have a seasonal blend in your subscription and it sells out before your shipment date, we will contact you to choose a replacement.
The 10% subscriber reduction ¶
Subscribers pay 10% less than the single-bag price on every shipment. This is applied automatically at checkout and reflected in the monthly charge. It is not a promotional rate that expires; it is the standard subscriber price. The reduction applies to seasonal blends as well as core blends.
Who the subscription suits ¶
The subscription works best for people who eat granola most mornings and go through a 250 g bag in about two weeks. Two bags per month is the right quantity for one person eating daily. Four bags suits two people or one person who eats larger portions. If you eat granola occasionally rather than daily, single-bag orders are probably more practical: the 90-day best-before gives you flexibility, but a subscription will accumulate faster than you can eat it.
What happens if you are travelling ¶
You can pause the subscription for one or two months from your account page. Pausing stops the charge and the shipment for that month. We ask that you pause before the 28th of the preceding month. If you forget and the charge has already gone through, we will ship the order but cannot refund the charge for that month. We have made exceptions for genuine emergencies; contact us at info@cedarvaultline.com if something unexpected comes up.
The subscription is not for everyone, and we would rather you order single bags and enjoy them than subscribe and feel obligated. If you are unsure, start with a single order of two or three blends and see how quickly you go through them. That will tell you more than any description we can write.
